Marshall vs Midnight

[Alright degenerates, this is a "prequel" match.  It occurred before any of the other Marshall Matches.  It was briefly mention in The Gould Brother's Take Charge.  Enjoy.]

Marshall vs Midnight

By

The Mangler

Marshall stood in his corner waiting for his opponent to enter the ring.  He was considered very handsome, stood 5'11" tall, weighed 200 pounds, had 4% body fat, and was shredded so that you could almost see every muscle fiber.  His abs were an 8-pack and rock hard.  Marshall was dressed in a pair of yellow wrestling trunks, white knee pads, and white wrestling boots.  He looked like what he was – a face.  He had already been checked for foreign bodies by Byron, the ref.

His opponent tonight was a member of the Heel Faction, which always complicated things in the UWA.  They were, as the name implied, a collection of Heels who were trying to establish control over the league.  They were not against using any method necessary to win a match and the more they squashed their opponents the better.

Marshall had been recruited to the league by his college friend Wiley in an attempt to help control and fight back against the Heel Faction.  So far he had not won a single match, usually due to some illegal activity by one or more members of the Heel Faction.  Marshall had not been in the league long, so he was still learning about the tactics of the faction.  With each match, he learned a little more.

While normally a nice guy, Marshall had decided to create some buzz before he joined the UWA.  He sent several tapes of himself talking about how he was going to come in and save the UWA, put the Heel Faction in its place, and become the champion.  The crowds ate it up as they were looking for a champion and someone they could cheer for who could win.  Unfortunately for Marshall, it had enraged the Heel Faction, especially its leader, The Executioner.  The group had decided that Marshall was not going to win a single match, no matter what they had to do to prevent it.

Tonight’s match was an oral submission, knockout, or disqualification only match due to Marshall having been screwed in a couple of matches against the Heel Faction with pins that weren’t.  Marshall was the victim of either very bad reffing or the refs had been bribed or threatened.  Whatever the reason, he had been screwed and he was going to make sure that didn't happen tonightFor tonight’s match, Marshall had arranged for Wiley in the audience to assist if needed, but he was hoping he could take the win without having to resort to him.

The ref had been instructed that disqualification would be for only the most extreme reason but the wrestlers were not informed of this so that hopefully they would follow the rules.

"And now, for Marshall's opponent, we have the masked marvel known as Midnight.”

The crowd booed as the curtain opened and his opponent walked out.  Midnight's skin was dark chocolate in color, he stood 5"8, weight 210 pounds, and was best described as "chunky".  But don't let that fool you.  He was strong and in very good shape.  Living up to his name, he wore a black singlet, black mask, black knee pads, and black wrestling shoes.  He ignored the crowd as he came down to the ring.

Once in the ring, Byron went over to do a foreign body check.  Midnight bitched, moaned, and complained throughout the entire affair.  Byron called the two wrestlers to the middle of the ring.

“Okay, remember tonight’s match can only end with an oral submission or a knockout – pins don’t count.  However, standard rules still apply so count outs and disqualifications do count.  Remember, standard rules.  Now shake hands and return to your corners.”

As Midnight extended his hand, Marshall replied “Fat chance of that.  Been there, done that, don’t need to do it again.”  As he said this he kept his eyes locked Midnight’s face.  Midnight dropped his hand and took a step backward breaking eye contact.

Just as Midnight stepped back and broke eye contact, Byron signaled for the bell and it was rung.  Marshall looked over at Byron but was not able to say anything before a fist landed squarely in his abdomen eliciting a grunt.  This was followed by a forearm uppercut, snapping Marshall’s head back.

Not giving his opponent any time to think or recover, Midnight lowered his head and drove his shoulder into Marshall's abs, and drove him back into the turnbuckle.  Midnight then stood and drove his knee up into Marshall's balls.

“Hey, watch the low blows,” Byron cautioned.

"Oops, my bad," Midnight replied as he turned his back to Marshall, grabbed his head, and snapmared him to the canvas.  He followed up with a couple of stomps to the abs, followed by rolling Marshall to his chest and applying a surfboard, pulling up by the arms, while pushing down with the foot.  Midnight had established control in the match quickly but it was still early.

Midnight dropped the surfboard and dropped two knees into the lower back.  He then walked to the front of Marshall, reached down and grabbed a handful of hair, and pulled him up.  When Marshall got to his feet, he was still bent over.  He reached up with his right hand and circled Midnight’s head, ran his left arm between Midnight’s legs, lifted and slammed Midnight to the mat.  He followed up with stomps to the abs.

Marshall pulled Midnight from the mat, flung him into the opposite ropes, and on the rebound bent over and hoisted him into a backdrop.  Midnight grunted when he hit the mat.  Marshall went over, grabbed Midnight's ankles, and pulled him toward the turnbuckle.  He bent over, locked Midnight's thighs in his arms, and then lifted Midnight up while falling backward.  Midnight flew up, over Marshall, and slammed chest first into the top turnbuckle.  His chin also impacted the area.  He staggered back from the blow, where he felt hands grasp around his waist, lift him up and drop him in a suplex.

Marshall pulled Midnight from the mat, flinging him across the ring into the turnbuckle.  Marshall followed up by charging across the ring and slamming back first into a trapped Midnight.  When Marshall stepped forward, Midnight fell to the mat and immediately rolled under the rope, and dropped to the floor.

Marshall followed him out of the ring, ignoring Byron’s attempts to stop him.  He rounded the corner aiming for Midnight, but as soon as he turned the corner, he was met by a foot into the abs, followed by a clothesline slamming him to the thin mat on the arena floor.

Midnight quickly pulled Marshall to his feet and rammed his head into the nearest corner ring post.  He then grabbed Marshall charged down the ringside and slammed his head, again, into the second ring post.  He repeated the maneuver to the third ring post and would have gone for the fourth but Marshall became impossible to hold up after the third slam.  Also, Byron was getting toward 10 on his count, so he rolled back into the ring to break the count.

Marshall slowly pulled himself to his feet, using the ring apron to help him.  Midnight rebound off the ropes and charged toward Marshall where at the last minute he dropped down into a baseball slide under the ropes aiming for Marshall’s head and chest.  Marshall saw him coming and rolled to the side such that Midnight simply sailed off the ring apron and slammed down to the floor.

Marshall pulled him up and delivered a powerbomb further winding Midnight.  Byron left the ring and got between the two wrestlers.

“Goddamn it, get back into the ring before I disqualify you,” he screamed at Marshall.

“He fucking started it,” was the reply.

“Well, I’m ending it!  Back in the ring now!”

Marshall complied and rolled back into the ring.  Byron leaned over and helped Midnight to his feet instead of starting a count.

“Back off the ropes, or this match is over,” Byron yelled at Marshall as he assisted Midnight back to the ring.  Byron crawled in first followed by Midnight who slowly got to his feet.

“Let’s keep it fucking clean,” Byron screamed at both wrestlers as he made sure that Marshall allowed Midnight free access back into the ring.

The two wrestlers slowly circled each other before locking up in a collar and elbow.  They pushed and shoved without either one getting an advantage until Midnight quickly moved one of his legs behind Marshall's and then pushed backward violently.  This threw Marshall off balance and he stumbled back into the ropes.  Once he hit the ropes, Midnight pulled toward himself as he dropped to his back and raised his knees flipping Marshall over him and onto his back.

Midnight kipped back to his feet and delivered a dropkick to the head and back of Marshall as he sat up.  This forced Marshall’s head forward and downward and in trying to compensate he ended up flying backward and slamming his head into the mat.  Midnight did a leg drop across the forehead further forcing the head into the mat.

He then sat on Marshall's chest and began a series of blows to the abs concentrating on the area around the umbilicus.  After he had done that for a while, he applied an abdominal claw with his right hand and reinforced it with his left hand.

Marshall squirmed and got his hands up to grab Midnight's arm, but was not able to pry the hold loose so he dropped his hands.  Pulling his hands back and placing the palms on Midnight's glutes, Marshall took a very deep breath and did a combination bench press/sit up throwing Midnight forward and face first into the mat, breaking the abdominal claw in the process.  Marshal reached down, grabbed Midnight by the ankles, and pulled him toward him as he climbed on the back, locked Midnight's arms over his thighs, and grabbed the chin locking on a Camel clutch.  He applied as much pressure as possible.

Midnight was able to pull his arms off the thighs, place his palms face down on the mat and plank up, even with Marshall sitting on his back.  Marshall, keeping the chin locked in his hands, stood partially off the back and dropped back down forcing Midnight to the mat with a scream.  Midnight finally used his forearms to pull himself, and Marshall, forward until he could reach out and grab the ropes.

“Man in the ropes, break the hold,” the ref called.  Marshall dropped the chin, stood up, and delivered a knee into the lower back.

“Back off until he is out of the ropes,” Byron called.

Midnight used the ropes to pull himself up before Marshall wrapped his hands around the waist and attempted a suplex.  However, Midnight was holding onto the ropes and was able to resist the move.  Byron got to the side demanding a break, so Midnight slammed his heel backward and up into Marshall’s balls.

Marshall gave a little scream as he broke the hold, reached down and grabbed his balls, and stepped backward.  Byron turned to see Marshall holding his balls, but had not seen anything so he didn't say anything.

Midnight moved from the ropes, grabbed Marshall by the back of the head, and rammed his forehead into the nearest turnbuckle several times until Byron demanded he stop.  After the last slam, Midnight released the back of the head turned away from Marshall, stuck his foot behind Marshall's ankle, grabbed the face, and pushed backward tripping Marshall all the way to the mat where he slammed his head onto the mat.

Midnight pulled Marshall to the center of the ring, rolled him to his chest, and applied a single-leg Boston crab, applying as much pressure to the back as possible.  When Byron was out of position, Midnight would apply a ball claw and squeeze as hard as he could.

“My nuts, dammit my nuts,”  Marshall cried but by the time Byron got into position, Midnight had both hands on the leg.

“I don’t see any low blows,”  Byron relayed to Marshall until he was once again out of site and the procedure would repeat itself.

Finally, Midnight released the hold, stood up, and delivered a series of knees and stomps to the lower back.  He then turned and posed for the crowd.  While he was posing, Marshall turned to his back, in spite of the spasm, and when Midnight turned back to his opponent, Marshall pulled his knees up, rolled onto his shoulders, and kicked his legs out slamming both feet into Midnight's left knee.

Midnight screamed as he stepped back and fell to his knees.  Marshall rose to his knees and he and his opponent began delivering a series of forearms and slaps to each other.  After the last forearm, Marshall dropped his hand and grabbed a handful of balls squeezing as hard as he could.

Midnight screamed and tried to pry the hands off.

"Hey, no low blows, no low blows, break the hold,”  Byron screamed.

“Yeah, you were alright when he was doing it to me,” Marshall responded.

“I never saw anything and I always call it, so break the….” Byron began.

“Balls.  Sure, I’ll break them,” Marshall completed.

Having enough, Byron actually grabbed Marshall by the shoulders and pulled him backward, causing Marshall to break the hold but not before stretching out Midnight’s balls.

"Do that again and I'm going to disqualify your ass," Byron said as he got in Marshall's face.  Marshall ignored him as he got to his feet.  Midnight was still kneeling on the mat and hunched over.  Marshall went to the side and delivered a kick to the head, dropping Midnight to the mat.

Marshall exited the ring, grabbed the left ankle, pulled it out under the bottom rope, and began slamming it into the ring post.  Instead of just yelling from the ring, Byron exited to the floor and pushed Marshall away from Midnight while screaming at him to keep it in the ring.

“Sure, sure, whatever you want," he said as he rolled under the bottom rope and back into the ring.  He picked Midnight up, bent his left leg at the knee, then charged into the turnbuckle leading with the left knee.  He next strung Midnight up in the middle of the ropes, by placing the left leg over the top rope, pulling the second rope up and over the foot, dropping Midnight so that he was now handing by his left leg with the pressure on the knee.

Marshall went to the side and began delivering a series of punches into the knee, ignoring Byron’s admonitions until he started to count.  He stopped at four and moved away from the ropes.  Byron unhooked the leg and Midnight dropped to the mat where Marshall delivered a quick kick to the left knee before sitting Midnight up, sitting on his shoulders and neck forcing the neck to bend and pushing the face down.  He then reached down and grabbed the leg ankle pulling the leg straight up.  Midnight screamed as he was locked into the Stump puller which stretched the back, the neck, and the quads.

Marshall used his free hand to slam some blows into the left knee.

“Break the hold,” Byron screamed.

“Why, it’s legal,” Marshall asked.

“Because he is in the ropes,” Byron said.  Marshall looked over and saw that indeed, he had lost ring awareness so Midnight was able to grab the rope.  Cursing, Marshall dropped the hold.  Marshall immediately grabbed his opponent’s ankle, dragged him further into the ring, and applied a figure four leg lock with emphasis on the left knee.

Midnight began slamming his hands on the mat and moaning.  He reached for the ropes but could not reach them.  Suddenly, a figure charged down the aisle, arrived at the ring, reached under the bottom ropes, grabbed Midnight by the hands, and pulled him under the ropes dragging Marshall along as well.  Wiley, a fellow face, came out of the audience and attacked Nick, a member of the Heel Faction and the two began to brawl.  Byron exited the ring to try and break up the extra match action.

While Byron was occupied, Adam, a newer member of the Heel Faction, slide into the ring from the other side, ran over, and dropped a fist directly into Marshall's balls eliciting a scream and breaking the figure four lock.  Adam dropped out of the ring, grabbed each of Marshall's ankles on either side of the ring post, and slammed Marshall ball's first into the post eliciting another scream.

He pulled Marshall out of the ring, lifted him up, and delivered a backbreaker.  He did this twice before ramming Marshall's back into the ring edge and then sliding him back into the ring.  Midnight had managed to get back into the ring and was standing massaging his left knee.

Byron finally managed to get between the two brawling wrestlers, separated them, and threw them out of the Arena.  But he turned to get back into the ring and didn't see both wrestlers mix in with the crowd.

When Byron climbed back into the ring, he found Marshall trapped in camel clutch with Midnight pulling back so hard his muscles were trembling with the force.  Marshall’s chin was pulled up so hard, he wasn’t able to alert the ref to the other interference.

Noah, one of the rookies who was watching the action through the curtain alerted some of the faces as to the interference, so they gathered at the curtains ready to assist if needed.  They did not enter now as it looked as if the ref already had the situation under control.

Midnight finally dropped the clutch, stood delivered a series of stomps to the back before pulling Marshall into the middle of the ring.  Marshall's back and his balls were screaming at him.  Midnight bent Marshall's legs at the knee, pulled the ankles between his legs, and locked them on his thighs. He then reached down and grabbed both wrists before pulling up and getting Marshall into a swinging pendulum which put pressure on his bent back.

As Midnight was doing this, he was having some problems because of his left knee was a little unstable.   As Marshall was swinging, increasing the pressure on his back, he was able to twist enough to run into the left knee.  Each time he did Midnight had a little more trouble staying upright and maintaining the hold.

"Do you submit," the ref asked?

“No, No,”  Marshall mumbled, not having the strength to yell louder.  Midnight increased the length of his swing and bounced up and down causing his left knee to become even more unstable.  His balance was precarious and he was in danger of not being able to maintain the hold.

"Do you submit," the ref repeated?

Once again, Marshall mumbled no in a low voice.

The ref stood up and signaled for the bell.  “Break the hold Midnight, he has submitted,” the ref yelled at Midnight.  The wrestler responded by dropping Marshall to the mat, hopping backward, and favoring his left knee, after which the ref raised his hand.

"And your winner by submission, MiiiidNiiiight," the announcer screamed.

Marshall raised up and said, "I didn't submit."  He turned and looked at Wiley and repeated "I didn't submit."

Wiley jumped the barrier and hopped onto the ring apron.  The ref came over to prevent him from entering the ring.

“The match isn’t over, dammit, he didn’t submit,” Wiley screamed.

“I heard him give up, he submitted,” Byron responded.

"You're the only one who heard it because he didn't submit, asswipe," Wiley yelled.

At this point, Wiley and the ref got into a shouting match over the top rope.  While the ref was distracted, Adam, the Executioner’s partner, slid back into the ring and with Midnight’s help pulled Marshall to his feet.  Adam then locked on a full nelson, while Midnight began using Marshall’s abs as a punching bag.

Seeing what was happening Sam, Liam, and Gordon, all faces, came out of the back to assist Marshall.  They came down the aisles on the far side of the ring so that Byron did not see them.

Sam was met by The Terror who came over the barrier from the audience.  The Terror was not a member of the Heel Faction but was trying to be, so when the Executioner asked for help he was more than willing. The Terror threw a clothesline across the chest as Sam was almost at the ring which caused him to fall backward.  However, The Terror reached out and grabbed him by the hair and pulled him forward while slamming a judo chop across the throat causing Sam to gag.  The Terror then DDT’d Sam down on the arena floor.  The Terror began raining blows down onto the upper back and head until Sam was out of action.

At the adjacent corner of the ring, Quinton had just cleared the aisle on his way to the ring, when he was brought up sort by a cord wrapping around his neck and pulling him backward.  Nick, a member of the Faction, after coming out of the audience, had thrown a lasso over Quinton’s head and pulled him back up the aisle.  Once he was pulled back into the Barrier, Nick turned Quinton so that he was facing him.  He drove a solid punch into the groin of Quinton hitting the head of his dick.  Quinton bent forward from the pain, and Nick grabbed hold of the head and pushed down until Quinton’s neck was across the metal barrier separating the audience.  Nick then straddled the head and push downward trapping Quinton in a choke over the barrier while also grabbing Quinton’s wrists and pulling upward.  Nick held the hold against Quinton’s struggles until Quinton's movements slowed.  He then leaped over the barrier, wrapped his arms around Quinton's waist, lifted him up, and dropped him back in a suplex, slamming the back of Quinton’s head into the thinly padded arena floor.  Quinton passed out and he was neutralized.

Working together, The Terror and Nick pulled Sam up onto the ring apron, trapped his arms between the first and second ropes, and used some duct tape to secure the wrists to the rope.  A piece of duct tape was then secured over the mouth.  They repeated the same with Quinton on another side of the ring.  Two of the faces were now tied in the ropes on the ring apron out of sight of the ref.

Liam, a recent arrival from Ireland, who had managed to get around Quinton and Nick and get almost to the ring was tackled from the side by Gordon, another long-time heel.  Both wrestlers slammed into the arena floor with Liam having the wind knocked out of him as Gordon landed on top of him.  Gordon turned Liam to his back, brought the arms down by the side, then straddled Liam using his legs to trap the arms.  Gordon then began a brutal series of punches and blows.  By the time Liam had recovered his breath he had already taken many blows to the head and neck and was feeling dizzy but he was able to twist to the right dumping Gordon off him.  Gordon responded by kicking his leg into Liam's balls, pulling Liam to a sitting position, and locking on a sleeper until he was out.

Liam was then pulled up onto the ring apron and secured as Sam and Quinton had been.  The ring now had three faces tied in the ropes facing the audience who were screaming and booing trying to get the ref’s attention.

While the three faces were being taken out of action, Wiley and the ref were still arguing, Marshall was still trapped in a full nelson and Midnight was punching away into his abs with an occasional shot to the balls.  Suddenly, Wiley dropped down from the ring apron and slammed his chin into it snapping his head backward.  While arguing with Wiley, the ref had failed to see The Executioner come up behind him and pull his ankles off the ring apron.

As Wiley’s head snapped back, The Executioner had locked it under his armpit and dropped down, trapping Wiley in a dragon sleeper.  The blow to the chin had taken quite a bit out of him.

In the locker room, the door opened and Noah, a rookie to the league and wrestling, walked in.

“How’s it going out there,” one of the other wrestlers asks.

Having just walked through the curtain to take a look he responded, "Match is still ongoing and under control.  Marshall is holding his own.” The other wrestlers went back to their activities, while Noah gathered his stuff and exited the building before they realized that he had lied.

When Wiley had dropped off the ring apron, Byron started to exit the ring to stop the action when he heard grunting from behind him and turned back into the ring and saw the two members of The Heel Faction abusing Marshall.  He stayed in the ring and went and stepped between Midnight and Marshall bringing a halt to the punches to the abs.

“Knock it off or I’m going to reverse the decision,” Byron threatened Midnight.

Stepping back Midnight said “Okay, Okay, don't get your underwear in such a knot” as he threw his hands up in the air.

As soon as Byron had stepped between the wrestlers, Adam had turned Marshall, still in the full nelson, to the corner and began slamming his head into the turnbuckle which he did several times.  He then released the full nelson, went to the side, wrapped his hand around Marshall's throat, lifted him, and performed a chokeslam to the mat.   Marshall bounced and was by all practical purposes out of it.  That didn't stop Adam from delivering one punch to the balls, eliciting a grunt, before Byron warned him off and he slid under the ropes to exit the ring.  Midnight took the opportunity to deliver another kick to the balls before engaging Byron in another argument about tactics and the match being over.

Adam went over to where The Executioner had the dragon sleeper applied, but Wiley had just managed to slip out of the hold.  Adam kicked him in the head, slamming him back to the floor.  He and the Executioner then picked Wiley up and performed a series of three double suplexes until Wiley just lay on the floor, groaning but not moving much.  Although the dragon sleeper hadn’t put him completely out, it had sapped most of his energy.  Wiley was pulled up onto the ring apron and trapped as the other faces had been.

Midnight, seeing that the assault was over, exited the ring where all the Heels joined together and lifted their hands in the air to an overwhelming chorus of hisses and boos.  As Bryon looked over the ring he saw the four faces trapped in the ropes and Marshall laying in the middle of the ring not moving.

As the Heel Faction exited the Arena, The Executioner picked up a microphone and yelled, “Nobody fucks with the Heel Factions unless they want to get an honest-to-goodness beat down.”  He and the other Heels laughed as they continued back to their locker room, smiling and congratulating themselves.

“And there you have your winner, Midnight and his, uhm, uhm, cohorts exiting the arena while the faces have all been beaten and hung out to dry.”  There was a loud chorus of boos from the crowd.

Meanwhile, in the ring, Byron concentrated on reviving and helping Marshall, while the other faces were left unattended and trapped in the ropes until several other refs came out to help.  Many photos were taken and appeared on various social media sites.

As they had been victorious once again, the Heel Faction advertised this by posting many of the photos on their Instagram feed while touting their superior abilities.  The Heel Faction had once again been victorious by cheating and had also delivered a strong message to Marshall and the other faces, -- Don’t Get Involved!

  1. Happy New Year and thanks for yet another great story. Loved, loved the treatment of the four faces being bound to the ring ropes and gagged with duct tape.

Prior to reading this latest story, I reread its sequel. Such a fucking hot story, with so many things to love about it is well such as:
Marshall being forced into flesh colored trunks, two sizes too small; the security guards' using a taser to subdue him and a ball gag, chains and handcuffs to restrain him; and then the strapping of him in a seat and using electricity to torture and destroy his abs, all in preparation of him for his match with the Executioner. My load was lost half through the sequel.

  2. Really glad you liked it. Mr. Gould Will be starring in several more stories in the future including several "prequels".

Writing is interesting. Marshall started as a one off character, and has become a continuing "star" in Mangler's world, including my two part epic. He wouldn't just go away!

  3. The stories involving Marshall (in particular, "Marshall's Revenge") being "throw backs," in the style of some of the original Mangler stories is much to my liking. I find the brutality and intensity of them extremely exciting.

    1. Totally agreed Tom. Since Marshall is so ripped and so muscular, he demands extra brutality since "normal" are for normal faces and obviously Marshall has built himself up to be super tough.

  4. awesome new chapter in the UWA... love the chaos of the Face Faction members getting neutralized one by one and put on display... 5 faces down and the Heel Faction on the rise. Really interested to see if these side characters (Liam, Quinton, etc.) make an appearance down the line in the upcoming chapters you've teased... I particularly want to see if Noah - naive lying newbie that he is - gets any sort of comeuppance for his role in preventing aide from coming to the Faces' rescue. I am really glad to hear that Marshall has more adventures ahead... I know when we had last left him, he was about to embark on a mission of revenge, but I hope that revenge doesn't come too easily.

    1. You should know that in Mangler's world, nothing comes easy or goes to plan!

My plan with Marshall was a one shot story and then back to Redneck Arena. But the options just became too great. I do plan stories involving the other faces in UWA, but Marshall and his nemesis The Heel Faction will be the main focus.
