The Gym Exchange

The Gym Exchange

By

The Mangler

James Warrick was a happy man. His dream had finally come true. He signed the final papers for his new gym that morning and was standing at the front door looking at the sign that read “Warrick’s Gym--building muscles our specialty.” After entering the front door, he walked past the reception area and into the main body of the gym--a large open cavernous space with all the latest equipment. His favourite area was toward the back where all the free weights were. He wasn’t much of a believer in the machines. He felt that real men used free weights to develop their bodies--it had worked well for him and was good enough for everybody else. However, he knew that to make the gym a success he would have to offer the machines as well. However, his true devotion was going to be to the guys in the free weight area.

In a separate room off to the right was his 2nd favourite area--the wrestling room. Sitting in the middle of the room was a regulation size wrestling ring. The ceiling was 15 feet high with several bright spotlights. Along two sides of the ring there were wooden benches with enough seating for about 100 people. Next to building his body, pro wrestling was James’ favourite activity. What better way to show off his muscles than wearing skimpy trunks and challenging other muscle men to “shut up or put up.” He occasionally did some wrestling shows as a jobber--it was how he managed to save up the money for his gym, but that was old news now.
