Chuck’s Wresting Weekend: Part 1

Although I had been nursing my bumps and bruises all week, I was eager to get back into the ring to reclaim my pride after the humiliation I suffered in my last match at the hands of Chuck.   I was about to ask my wrestling buddies if Chuck would become a regular member of our wrestling group when Bob called letting me know that Chuck had invited us to a weekend wrestling get together at his place.  Bob gave me directions and said he wasn’t going to be able to make it there.

Introduced to each other through various wrestler web sites, we had been meeting for weekly wresting get-togethers for three or so months.  Our wrestling group consisted of four guys, myself, Bob, Frank and Alan, of which I am the youngest and in the best shape.  At 38 years old, 6 foot and 210 pounds, I hit the gym 5 times a week.  Although not a body builder, I am proud of my physique.  With big broad shoulders, meaty defined pecs tapering down to a 36-inch waist my opponents are normally intimidated by my physique.

After losing the Rookie of the Year match, Ray was so incensed that he stormed into Pedro's office and demanded a match with the intruders that had interfered in his match with Jim. Pedro, the promoter, brought up the obvious problem of Ray being out numbered in such a match and although Ray out-weighed both intruders by at least 40 pounds, Pedro cautioned Ray not to get himself into a situation he couldn't handle. Pedro further cautioned Ray that the two so called intruders were not simply spectators; they were new recruits into the Underground Wrestling Circuit. Their names were K-Dawg and J-Dawg and wrestled as the tag team "The Dawgs". Ray listened to reason and suggested a tag team match. Pedro told Ray he could arrange such a match but that he would have to find a partner himself.

The money Ray had won from the pin fall against Bulldog was all that stood between him and eviction last month. Even so, after the beating he had received following his last match Ray vowed not to accept any more matches however, another month had past and again the rent was due so Ray decided to approached Pedro to schedule a match.

Pedro approached Ray with a proposition of joining the Underground Wrestling Circuit. Ray stumbled into the Circuit with the matches he had with Jose and Chang. At the time of those matches Ray had been under the impression that they were spur-of-the-moment challenges but subsequently learned they were a result of an orchestrated plan to recruit new fighters into the Circuit. Pedro explained that these bouts involved purses and were usually "winner takes all". Even though Ray had been defeated in both bouts, he thought he had opportunities to win both and considering that up to this point he had never wrestled before, with a little experience he could be successful and make some good money.

It took weeks for Ray to recover from the pounding he had received at the hands of Jose. The humiliation that followed Ray just about every minute he spent at the gym was too much to bear. Ray decided to only way he would be able to keep showing his face in the gym again was if he challenged Jose to a rematch and return some the humiliation he had received.

This was going to be Ray's first time in a wrestling ring. Up to this point his wrestling experience was limited to horsing around with friends and a little amateur style wrestling in high school. Neither of which had prepared him for what was about to take place.
