Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat

by

Gym Dude

October 2003

While visiting in the west, I am invited to a Halloween party at the home of a friend of a business acquaintance in Malibu. My buddy has lined up 'dates' for us and since parking is nearly impossible at the house, we all meet at my hotel and take a cab.

They had scored costumes in advance so I wouldn't have to bother. Jane looks just like Cleopatra from the movies, Phillip is dressed as Mark Anthony while Michelle looks just like Mary Poppins and I am the chimney sweep. OK. OK, so I didn't pick it out, alright?

The Next Level:

The Defenseman vs. El Macho Gabacho

By: The Defenseman

It was 10AM on a Saturday morning, about two months ago. The Amtrak sped silently past the beautiful Pacific coastline, but my mind wasn't on the scenery. It was on the big man, El Macho Gabacho.

I ran across Gabacho's ad on one of those wrestling personals web pages on the net. Had some good photos of him pounding on some jobber. He was just my type---big, dark-haired, tanned, thick coat of fur across his impressive chest. Typical Californian. About six inches taller and thirty pounds heavier than me. I love taking on bigger guys, using my relatively small stature and low center of gravity to get inside a big man and inflict some real damage. My band was planning a West Coast tour in August, so I figured I might be able to get some time away to go toe-to-toe with Macho. So, I e-mailed him a challenge and we exchanged the obligatory "I'll-kick-your-fucking-ass" e-mails. But then plans fell through and the band decided it would be cheaper to tour the East coast again. So, I sent Macho the usual "Sorry-but-ain't-gonna-happen-this-summer--maybe-some-other-time" e-mail and figured that was that.

Hollywood Muscleboy Grudge Match

Hollywood Muscleboy Grudge Match
By
California Kid

It is Friday afternoon at the Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach and Evan Marriott is working out.  He gets a call from his agent.

“Sorry Evan, but you didn’t make it to the auditions for the action adventure movie” says his agent.

“What are they looking for? I thought they were looking for a big muscular guy who had hand to hand combat experience”, Evan asks.

“They are Evan, but they said they were looking for…well…. they are looking for someone with a different look.  I sorry, but something else will come up.” The agent says before he ends the call with Evan.

Dan "The Destoyer" Debuts

[For those of you new to the site or who need a refresher on the Redneck Arena (the setting for this story)  please click A History of the Redneck Arena]

Dan “The Destroyer” Debuts

By

The Mangler

The crowd at the Redneck Arena was all fired up after the last match which was a tag team beat down.  Surprisingly enough it was the faces that did the beat down.  They were tired of being punching bags.  After the match, the crowd was doing intermatch stuff, going to the restroom and chatting with their friends so they weren’t paying much attention to the ring.  The cleaning staff entered with five people as they cleaned up the mess from the last match.  However, only four people left the cage.  One slid under the ring.  While the fans didn’t really notice, the commissioner did.  He also realized who slid under the ring and was smiling his most evil grins.  He turned to one of the fans who had accompanied him to the matches.

The Commissioner’s Loss

By

The Mangler

Sitting in the office of the Commissioner of the Redneck Arena.

He was going hard sell for his pitch.

“Look, you are blowing up the independent circuit.  People are coming from all over to see you.  Now is the time to take advantage of that and sign with The Redneck Arena.  Look at the advantages:

            Guaranteed income

            Fewer Matches

            Name Recognition…”

“I have all that now.  Plus, what you’re offering is much less than what I am making now.  I get to travel all over the place, meet new people, kick a lot of ass and dominate.  Why should I give that up for this rinky dink place??”

This was spoken by Daniel (Dan) “The Destroyer” Wang.  He stood 6’2” tall and weighs in at 225 pounds.  He was tall, tanned and well built.  You could tell that he spent time in the gym, but his physique showed that he was probably just starting to take his workouts seriously.  Toned but not cut. He was wearing black wrestling boots, blue square cut trunks.  As he sat across form the commissioner he was smirking, flexing and being arrogant.  Things that the commissioner would normally like, except when things weren’t going his way.

Trying to maintain his calm he said “Yeah, but at some point, all that traveling is going to get you down.  How bout this, you lose your match on Monday and you sign up with us…”

Laughing the Destroyer goes “Ain’t going to happen.  I haven’t lost a match in over six months and I doubt you’ve got anybody to change that.  So no, I’m not signing your contract.  I’m just going to come in, give someone a major ass kicking while looking damn good.  Then I’m gonna take my check and move on to the next sucker.  Been nice talking with you.”  With that Dan got up and sauntered out.  As he crossed the threshold, he through up a middle finger without walking back.

The look on the Commissioner’s face was distraught.  His investors weren’t going to like that he let the Destroyer get away.

He turned and picked up the phone.  “Maybe I’ll have better luck after the match,” he sighed.   “Fortunately, that will be this Monday.”

The Golden Totem

The Golden Totem

By

Jobguyil

Buck had never seen an Indian-not a real one in any case. He'd seen people with Indian blood in them, but never a real live Indian who lived with his tribe. He knew about the Indian burial ground that lied some 25 miles outside of his Arizona hometown. He'd even gone close to them with some friends on a camping trip. Every time he went near, though, a shiver would make its way up his spine. The particular tribe that had made its home in that area was particularly vicious and had a reputation for being ruthless in combat, often raping the male captives of war to break their spirit and show the superiority of the conquering tribe. He had learned in his Arizona history class that it had taken the white settlers an extremely long time and many bloody battles to subdue the tribe. Now, all that was left of the once mighty Indian nation was their burial ground and some scribbling on a cave wall-or so he had heard.

Wrestling With Tom

Wrestling With Tom - Chapter 1

by

BM68PA

I swallowed the last of my soda, crushed the can in my fist, and threw it in the garbage.  Across the room, bathed in the blue glow from my computer monitor, my co-worker Tom sat typing in the last few lines of a computer code I did not understand.  He never turned his head to look at me, but as the can hit the empty garbage pail and rattled loudly he shook his head.

The Hidden Risk of Dating

The Hidden Risk of Dating

By

Gym Dude

Like most guys, my time in the gym is pretty serious.  On my light days I might joke around a little but most of the time I'm rather myopic and notice very little of what goes on around me. That is, until I saw Shelia. I am not one for the exercise bike, until I saw her on the stair-stepper. It wouldn't long before I struck up a conversation.

Membership Has Its Privileges

Membership Has Its Privileges

By

Gym Dude

Like many people, I enjoy the convenience of working out at home, but while my Bowflex keeps me toned, there is just no way for it to replace a real gym.  There is just something about the feel of bench-pressing hundreds of pounds that you can't get from those "springy" things, so when I got an offer from a new gym in the neighborhood, I decided to check it out.
